The AVERAGE HOMEBOY,
who was the FIRST rapper ever on YouTube from
an anonymous uploader who posted Denny's video
at the very initial launch of YouTube.
As a teenager, Denny Blazin Hazen had a dream
to become a famous rap artist at a time when
there weren't any white rappers. We're certain
that Denny was the first rapper to make a music
video while mowing his yard. Average Homeboy
is the original "White & Nerdy." Weird Al Yankovic
mimicked Denny in the famed music video.
Denny had a burning passion to share his original
point of view in the rap game at a time when
there weren't any mainstraim solo white rappers.
Denny's track coach in Middle School nicknamed
him, "Blazin Hazen" for his speed on the track.
Denny felt that his hot name would be a good
counterbalance in the rap industry since most
Rappers at the time were cold gangsta types
with their tough personas. One of Denny's
mottos is, "It's tough... not being tough,"
For sure, Blazin Hazen was the opposite of
a cold gangsta thug rapper.
Denny started producing demo videos in 1989
as a Freshman in College at Kent State.
Denny sent the videos out to NY and LA.
His first music video was called, Blazin Hazen.
Nearly 2 decades later, YouTube.com came along,
and an anonymous person who claimed to find
one of Denny's long lost demo videos at MTV,
uploaded the demo music video, "Average Homeboy"
to YouTube where it was featured on their home
page in late 2005. Quickly, the demo became
one of the world's first Viral Videos.
Average Homeboy was shared on many
entertainment websites, including features
Denny's old school rap demos are like a time capsule
of the late 80's/early 90's which include things
such as Hyper Colored Clothes, Cardigan Sweaters,
and even a mullet haircut.
In 2007, VH1 named Denny Blaze as their Top #3
Greatest Internet Superstar and featured him on
The Comedy Central Television Program,
Tosh.0, flew The Average Homeboy out to Hollywood
to feature him on their show for a Web Redemption
with Daniel Tosh, Episode #205.
